Challenges:
This project was carefully designed to fit into an extremely tight site with the typical constraints of downtown construction: close adjacent buildings, directly adjacent railroad easement, and city sidewalks flush to the building. These constraints made it challenging to build the 6-story concrete structure as it limited the staging area.
This building façade consisted of “Badger” red metal siding, stucco and burnished block; all a very good aesthetic fit for a neighborhood shared with Camp Randall. The theme for this building’s interior finishes were created to give the loft style apartment feel, and included exposed concrete columns, spiral ductwork and sealed concrete floors.
From conception to completion, KBS Construction, Inc. maintained quality craftsmanship within the established budget and schedule goals. The project was completed over a seven month period; just in time for the new student tenants to return to campus.
