Rubin Furniture

Located in Milwaukee historic 3rd ward this turn of the century concrete and wood beam framed building has been restored to it former beauty, exposing the concrete floors and wood beams.
The building main tenant is Rubin Furniture located on the ground floor. The building remodel was preformed around the open furniture store requiring great attention to there need and safety to maintain safe access at all times.
KBS was brought on early after bidding process on this project and help identify some of the existing building conditions. By surveyed the floor elevations KBS identified the slope of the floors from one side of the building to the other varied as much as 18”. With this information the owner rep. and there architectural team where able to design around this condition to create the open concept for there new design. Another challenge was the compressed schedule allowing for the occupancy of there new tenant. All exterior windows where replaced on the upper two floors and the design stayed with the original appearance for the historical preservation of this building.
